According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, the import turnover of animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam in 2021 will reach over US$4.93 billion, up 28.4% compared to 2020.
Particularly in December 2021, the import turnover of this group of products reached US$432.76 million, up 18.7% compared to November 2021 and up 15.6% compared to December 2020.
The main markets supplying animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam are still Argentina, the US, Brazil and the EU; In which, imports were the most from Argentina, reaching 1.66 billion USD, accounting for 33.6% of the country’s total import turnover of this commodity group, up 7.8% compared to 2020, in December alone. In 2021, imports from this market reached US$98.56 million, continuing to decrease 11.5% compared to November 2021 and down 29.9% compared to December 2020.
Next to the US market, the turnover increased sharply by 61.7% compared to 2020, reaching 817.64 million USD, accounting for 16.6%; In December 2021 alone, imports from this market increased by 5.5% compared to November 2021 and increased sharply by 36% compared to December 2020, reaching 64.39 million USD.
Imports of animal feed and raw materials from the Brazilian market in December 2021 increased sharply by 146.8 percent compared to November 2021 and increased by 174.3 percent compared to December 2020, reaching $124.26 million; in general, in 2021, the turnover reached US$659.69 million, accounting for 13.4%, a sharp increase of 68.4% compared to 2020; EU market reached 398.25 million USD, accounting for 8%, up 39.7%; Southeast Asian market reached 362.22 million USD, accounting for 7.3%, up 20.9%.
In general, in 2021, the import turnover of animal feed and raw materials from major markets will increase compared to 2020.
